Obesity is a multifaceted disease and requires a comprehensive approach for successful management. Diet, lifestyle, and insulin/glucose metabolism are commonly the focus of treatment. Often overlooked, however, are other factors in the obese patient's metabolism such as dysfunction in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis.
Elevated cortisol or abnormal cortisol patterns are often contributing factors in weight gain and/or resistant weight loss and should be addressed early in a treatment plan. This webinar will focus on exploring HPA-axis dysfunction in the obese patient and review treatment options to support successful weight loss.
